I was wondering if I can get some professional advice for my home theater surround sound.

This is what I have for my speaker setup which is real nice:
BOSE Acoustimass-7 which is 3 cube speakers+sub
(setup as front left, center, fright right)
BOSE Acoustimass-5 which is 2 cube speakers+sub
(setup as left rear, right rear)

This system was hooked up to a great amp untill is sh*t to bed...The amp was a JVC RX-715VTN. It was a bit old but the controls were very simple and my god the bass was unbelievable!!!When this let go about 2 years ago we went to BestBuy to purchase a new amp.

New Amp: Sony STR-DE975. The amp is very nice and it accepts digital optical for my DVD. The problem is the older amp sounded so much better, and the only time all the speakers play is when that blue light in the front is lit up"multi channel decoding".

VHS tapes,tv,older dvds, etc Will sound like a cheap sound system with that light off. When the light is on, all the speakers are indicated on the display as on..with it off, like 2 speakers are on with a sub but it doesnt sound like there is any bass.

Im sorry for writing so much but Im trying to be as detailed as possible...Any suggestions??Is that the wrong amp for my BOSE system?

Thanks
