I have a 5.1 speaker setup with the reciever. My DVD sound works great (optical cable) and my X-Box also (also optical). What im wondering is if I can hook up my TV to the reciever so that the sound from typical cable(Comcast) can be transferred to the 5.1 speakers instead of the crappy built-in speakers on the TV. I know I wouldn't be able to get TRUE 5.1 sound unless I have a cable box, ect... but I just want some stereo sound played through the 5.1 speakers. Also, my TV has AV out but I am connecting the cable straight into the TV without a box. How can I do this?

Just run RCA audio cables from the TV out to some inputs on your receiver. When you wanna listen to the TV through the system, mute the TV itself.
