Try searching the formum for this topic, it has been covered indepth before.
1: TV is hooked to MONITOR OUT and you don't want to switch inputs on TV.
2: TV does not have (an available) video connection but the receiver does.
3: You are in a multi-zone A/V setup.

I have a multi-zone Audio/Video setup. All Audio and Video goes to the receiver and each zone can select the source they wish to utilize using the Receiver via IR relays
