Cables !!

Is the difference really worth the price paid for? My system consists of Marantz sr5000 receiver, hitachi dvp-505 dvd player and Wharfedale Diamond speaker package with a yamaha yst sw-320 sub. On this equipment does it make sens to spend a good amount on cables ?? Or would it be only a waste of money because on such "average" equipment cable choice "wont make a difference".. ??
