This is a strange sound problem which I think doesn' t has to do with static.
I bought a Sony DAV-SB100 HTIB system, hooked it up and it worked fine for the first few hours. But since then I hear a crackling sound through all 5 speakers. When I power the receiver the sound is fine for 2 or 3 minutes, then the crackling starts over again. So it seems to happen when the receiver warms up. I hear this crackling even when there is no sound source.
Also strange: the crackling sound begins in the front right speaker and is heard the loudest there. Then it seems te 'spread'. But disconnecting the right front speaker doesn't solve the problem. (When I test the speakers, the front right produces less sound then the others. A second problem?)
The guys at Sony Belgium couldn't help me with this, maybe you guys can... Tx.
Excellent! Return the system and get a new unit! Any crackling noise, or any noise, for that matter, is not normal nor acceptable in any audio product.
