Good grief! Don't you guys know anything?
That's not the way you connect the thing.

It's like this:

Dave, please excuse my friends here. That is a bridge clip and it is inserted in a manner connecting your pre-amp out to your amp in on the back of your reciever. They come in pairs and apparently you lost one, otherwise you would have provided us with; { } or {{ or }}.

In that case, do not use the single bridge clip but instead use a pair of short interconnects.

You guys are just hilarious!
It was my first post on this forum and I messed up and you guys picked up the ball and ran with it.
Anyway the question was:

For convenience I want to setup my system so that we don't always need the surround sound or receiver for just watching the TV. (For some of the family members that just want to watch "Degrassi" and want it easy.)
I thought that this setup might work:
TV: Sam 6187 DLP
Tosh XA2 HD DVD
Onkyo 605 Receiver

HDMI from DVR to TV.
OPTICAL from TV to receiver.
HDMI from HD DVD to Receiver.

1) Does this look like it will work?
2) Is there an advantage to using optical, coax, or analog connections for the adio feed from the TV to the receiver?

Thanks for your thoughts (and your humor).

One thing you will need to figure out is how to leave the TV speakers on for non-receiver listening and then have them off or muted when using your reciever.

How is your DVD video getting to your TV?

Does your TV have 2 HDMI inputs? If so run both DVR and DVD HDMI into the TV. Then run digital, optical, or analog feeds from the DVR and DVD into your reciever.

Always leave the system with the TV speakers on so those who want it simple only have to turn on the TV and DVR or DVD.

Any option changes for using the HT set-up should be done by those who want the full effect and know how to configure it each time.

As to #2 in your post, no. It only matters from your sources to your receiver. If the source has better sound quality, use the analog connections, if the receiver has better sound quality, use the optical or coax. You may have to experiment to see which you like better.

John S, I never would have guessed they made bridge clips that large. Thanks for the update.

Our friend has started another thread with the same question.

Michael, unfortunately some people's bridge clips are larger that others'.
Life just isn't fair.

Dave, please don't misunderstand, I wasn't being sarcastic about calling you friend. I meant it.
