I have just joined the HDTV community and was wondering what I should do about the audio connection to my Pioneer VSX-516-K. I have the choice of coaxial digital, optical digital or RCA, which one of these are the best and will it make a huge difference?

This is entirely up to your ears.

There has been various debates as to which digital connection is better...coaxial digital or optical digital. They are both good, but the differences are heard by different ears.

As far as RCA is concerned, this is only stereo analog and sounds excellent to stereo purists and some, not so much. If the RCA is the multi channel variety, then it is a different story, again dependent upon you ears.

If you are talking about hooking up a cable/satellite box to your receiver, then use coax or optical, so you can enjoy HD programming in 5.1.
