Thanks Plymouth.

The chip set is Sti5518MVB-X, ID OX1D405041 and yes the TSOP is a Macronix MX29LV800BBTC-70. I have not been able to find a Jkeys Def. for this TSOP. All of the Jkeys I have will not recognize this TSOP. I receive the following error "Mfg Device code returned are FFFFFFFF/FFFFFFFF(JEDEC) and FFFFFFFF/FFFFFFFF(Flash File)".

Please can you find the correct Jkeys def. for this number. Thanks.

Sorry for my ignorance but if you list the machine which use those chips, it can help me to find what you want.

Is it a Pansat ,Pantec or a Dn 301 receiver?

Thanks Plymouth.
The unit is a Multistar MS2500PF around 2004 or 2005. I have seen on one site that it might be a clone of a champion dvb. But could not find any more info. On another site it stated it was a clone of a digiwave 7000 I think. The number on my motherboard is CP-418X-M1120

I usually Cut off the power cord before I toss them. You never know when you might need 3 feet of 14 ga.

Juan Ramirezone,

Thank you for your suggestion. However, I think you do not know how the Jkeys program works. You need a full definition of the TSOP that you wish to erase and reprogram using the Jkeys program before it will do anything for you. I am open to correction on that statement. I would further like to state that I know very little about how to write the required information into the Jkeys program. I asked for help and you were kind enough to provided information that might work but I do not know how to enter the info into Jkeys.

The following is a c/p of part of a Jkeys program. You will see that it is divided into four parts.

The first part describes the Chip set in the box, which is entered under the heading "Microprocessor JTAG Identification Codes".

The second heading "IRD Definitions/IRD Flash Definitions" is where one would enter the information about the TSOP chip in the box.

The third heading is where one would enter the "Flash Definitions/Flash Sector Definitions".

The fourth heading is where one would enter the "Flash Manufacturer Codes".

1. //Microprocessor JTAG Identification Codes"

Micro, 1, 1, "STi5500", 0xd4c9041, 0xfffffff
Micro, 2, 1, "ST20-TP2", 0x5193041, 0xfffffff
Micro, 3, 1, "ST20-TP4", 0x5198041, 0xfffffff
Micro, 4, 1, "ST20-GP6", 0x5196041, 0xfffffff
Micro, 5, 1, "STi5505", 0xd4cb041, 0xfffffff
Micro, 6, 1, "STi5508", 0xd402041, 0xfffffff
Micro, 7, 1, "STi5518", 0xd502041, 0xfffffff
*** Micro, 8, 1, "STi5518MVB-X", 0xd405041, 0xfffffff***
Micro, 9, 1, "STi5510", 0xd4cd041, 0xfffffff

2. //IRD Definitions/IRD Flash Definitions

IRD, 1, "Macronix Chip", 8, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 0x7FE00000, 0x7FEFFFC4, 0x7FEFFFFE, 0x7FEFFFA8, 0x7FE74FF4, 0x7FEEFFC7, "Ult", 0, 0
IRDFlash, 1, "Flash 1(29LV800BTC)", 0x225B, 0x7FE00000, 0x100000, 2, 2, 0

IRD, 20, "FS-LifeTime", 8, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 0x7FE00000, 0x7FFFFFC4, 0x7FFFFFFE, 0x7FFFFFA8, 0x7FF74FF4, 0x7FFEFFC7, "Fre", 0, 0

IRDFlash, 20, "Flash NEW(M29W800AB)", 0x205B, 0x7FF00000, 0x100000, 2, 2, 0

IRDFlash, 20, "Flash OLD(39VF800A)", 0x2782, 0x7FE00000, 0x200000, 2, 2, 0

3. // Flash Definitions/Flash Sector Definitions

Flash, 1, "29LV800BTC", 0x225B, 0x100000, 0, 1, 0, 1, 19, 1
Sector, 1, 15,0, 0x10000 // 64 KByte 15 Sectors
Sector, 1, 1, 0xF0000, 0x8000 // 8 KByte 1 Sector
Sector, 1, 1, 0xF8000, 0x2000 // 8 KByte 1 Sector
Sector, 1, 1, 0xFA000, 0x2000 // 8 KByte 1 Sector
Sector, 1, 1, 0xFC000, 0x4000 // 16 KByte 1 Sector

4. // Flash Manufacturer Codes

FlashMfg, 0x4, "Amic"
FlashMfg, 0x01, "AMD"
FlashMfg, 0x1F, "ATMEL"
FlashMfg, 0x20, "STMicro"
FlashMfg, 0x89, "Intel"
FlashMfg, 0x98, "Toshiba"
FlashMfg, 0xAD, "Hynix"
FlashMfg, 0xB0, "Intel"
FlashMfg, 0xBF, "SST"
FlashMfg, 0x00000, "Sharp"
FlashMfg, 0xC2, "MX" (This line is the code for Macronix)

From the above in part 1 you will see that I have placed three stars in front and at the end of the chip set that is in my box and it is "Macro, 8" above.

In part 2 above is information for the TSOP you mentioned that I should try 29LV800 BTC. However, in part three above it is described as having 15 sectors of 64Kbyte, three sectors of 8Kbyte and one sector of 16Kbyte. This is in line with page 4 of the specs since the last letters are "BT". However, my spec sheet shows a 32Kbyte sector that is not in the Jkeys program above? Also this chip is from the year 2002.

The TSOP 29LV800BBTC-70 has one sector of 16Kbyte, two sectors of 8Kbyte, one sector of 32Kbyte and 15 sectors of 64Kbyte. Starting with 16Kbyte and ending in 64Kbyte. This is opposite of the MX29LV800BTC.

I am attaching two files, one with the spec sheets T/B and the other with the spec sheets BT/BB.

Please see the attached spec sheet page number 4. The last two letters are "BB". This is what I think is the information for the TSOP MX29LV800BBTC-70 in my box. Page 55 of the spec sheet shows the number MX29LV800BBTC-70. This chip is from the year 2004.

Please note that on page 3 (spec sheets T/B) it shows the MX29LV800T and it has 64Kbyte starting at the top of the page and ending with a 16Kbyte. On page 4 it shows the MX29LV800B and it has 16Kbyte starting at the top of the page and ending with 64Kbyte.

On page 4 (spec sheets BT/BB) are the specs for MX29LV800BB which I think will match my chip and it starts with 16Kbyte at the top of the page and ends with 64Kbyte.

You will notice that the information on some lines of the Jkeys program are entered in hexadecimal and I have no knowledge of how to convert the information I have into hexadecimal so that I can enter it correctly. Any help with the conversion would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I am attaching page 4 only. If other sheets are required I can upload one sheet at a time.
I am unable to upload the spec sheets as they are over 100Kbite as allowed on this site.

Ed you seem to be attempting to program some FLASH memory or some EEPROM inside an STB box using a JTAG connexion and programmer.

I do not think you are going to get much help on this forum. You would be better off going into a specific forum pour your box.

Good luck

Looks like if you do a Google search with a Multistar MS2500PF query brings lots of other users having problems with the box....

Would it not be a good decision to wait a couple of months to see how the current N3 problem gets solved and buy a new appropriate box ?

Ed Fitz,

With all respect, and the status of DN channels moving to N3 encryption. I know very little about your box and JTAG. Also from reading this forum it seems conversions are a lot more work than it needs to be for the same result you are looking for.
You can get a cheap box for now and have at least 300 channels for $60 Free shipping
