There is absolutely NO WAY that DTV can trace who is receiving the signals!...its 100% impossible!...the phone line is ONLY intended for DTV to communicate with your receiver to see which PPV's U ordered using your remote , so they can bill U correctly every month!...there is NO other need or purpose of the phone line, so NEVER plug it in....just order all your PPV's ONLINE using owners DTV login info, and ALL people sharing (every receiver on the account)will be able to watch them also (its called mirroring)..and it doesn't matter where they live or where the receivers are located....U have a chance of CABLE TV catching U doing something illegal, cause they have "sniffers" driving around in vans that can tell who is receiving the signals illegally....with SATELLITE TV , that is IMPOSSIBLE!
