I just bought a LG dvd recorder with 1080 upconversion and found out that it has a PIP mode and my tv does not. To make this work I have to take the coax from cable DVR to the DVD recorder and split it before box. Run one cable to DVD and the other to the DVR and then run component A/V from DVR to the DVD recorder. Will switching from coax to component A/V decrease the quality for anything that I want to record on my DVD recorder from my cable DVR(live or saved)? I have cable HD DVR box and have it hooked up to a Samsung HD 1080p tv.I have both the DVR and the DVD recorder hooked up to the tv with HDMI cables. The coax from comcast cable is the best available.

Coax is the worst PQ you can get. The best is HDMI, then component, then s-video, then composite.

Isn't coax bringing your signal through every wall in your house?
