ok guys I need some opinions. I have a http://www.panasonic.ca/english/audiovideo/dvdvcr/player/dvds42.asp

nad I'm thinking of just taking that off my home theatre and using my xbox for dvds and freeing up some shelve space. Is there going to be any loss in picture quality or is it better?

i wouldnt be worried about picture quality as much as i would be worried about the surround modes Dolby Digital and DTS. also not having a remote and having to use the game controler. i dont think the X box would have better picture quality probably about the same.

If you have a HDTV then get the dvd player. x-box does not show dvds in progressive scan. If you don't have a HDTV then use the x-box. You will have to get a remote because they won't let you use the controller as the remote, also if you want to get digital sound (Dolby Digital, DTS, etc.) you will need to get some different video cables ones that have a optical out.
