I'm aware that this tv can display 1080p but does not take 1080p input, What happens if you feed it with a 1080p source like the new sony bluray player through HDMI....I can't seem to get a straight answer nor I can't find one. If anyone knows please enlighten me, I'm sure there are quite a bit of people here would like to know.

Thanks in advance

From everything that I have read, the XBR1 takes a 1080p source (if there was one to feed it), and "downscales" it to 1080i, and then re-scales it back to 1080p.

I hope this helps.

Vic and Ju1cy,

That is correct. The XBR1 will not accept a direct 1080p input and keep it at 1080p. However, the new KDS50A2000, KDS55A2000 KDS60A2000, KDSR60XBR1, and KDSR70XBR2 certainly will. See here:

Hope this helps.
