I just bought the new Toshiba HD-A1 DVD Player today and hooked it up to my new Samsung HLS5686 DLP and for some unkown reason the TV is not recognizing a signal from the DVD player through the HDMI hookup. I get a signal running it through the component and my TV get a signal from my HD cable box via HDMI so I cannot figure out what the problem might be. Has anyone else had this same issue with either this TV or DVD Player?

I haven't done any research on your TV, but do you know if it is HDCP compliant? If your TV is not, then you will have serious problems running HD-DVD and Blue Ray players through HDMI (both players are speculated to only run HD material through HDMI as well). I will look around and let you know what I can find.

This may not be the case at all, but it's a place to start. If anyone has more knowledge, please feel free to correct me.

There is no mention of HDCP Compliancy in the entire manual. If this was the issue why would I get a signal from my HD Cable box through the HDMI interface?

I called Toshiba and Samsung and neither one can determine the problem. Toshiba's tech support was basically worthless. I spoke to three different people and I could tell they were just given a sheet with basic Q&A responses. I did find out that the DVD player has a version 1.1 HDMI and the TV has a version 1.2 HDMI but I read that HDMI is suppose to be backwards compatible.
