Inconsistent audio levels on DVD

I made a short video and burned it to DVD. I gave copies to a few people, but some of them reported that the audio levels were inconsistent (interviews were soft and background music was loud) when they played it. This did not happen on my computer or two DVD/TV combos that I tried. Both of the tvs were connected using RCA cables. The levels also look good when I meter them on my computer. The audio is not surround, but the background music is professionally recorded where as the interviews were recorded by a non-pro (ie me).

Any thoughts? -- Thanks
