Hi
Im new here, Great board!
Im in the market for a 37-42 in
flat panel tv. Mostly tv watching
with HD cable box and DVD. I was
interested in the 42A3HD, Is anyone
using these yet? Was also thinking
about 37" Sharp or the newer 40" Bravia
s model(2799.00 Retail). I find LCD's a
little bright, but the Bravia isnt bad.
What do you think about reliability on
the Pioneer vs LCD? And is power consumption
alot more on the plasma?

Thanks
Chris

I am also interested in the Pioneer, since it is for sale at Costco.
Does anybody have any comments on it?

Just on the power consumption issue- The ratings on power used in watts usually are higher on plasmas than LCDs by quite a bit.

However the during use measurements have been done and are posted in a power consumption thread at avsforum.com. The bottom line is that the real use consumption is much lower than the rated max use numbers on the specs. And it varies during use. Specifically, during the dark scenes the P.C. goes down; during brighter scens it goes up. So if during calibration the picture or brightness level is adjusted for viewing in a dark room- the power consumtion over all is about a tenth of the ratings on the specs for my plasma- about 39 watts vs 390.

The new pioneer plasmas are evn lower now becuase they changed their pixel depth which allows less power consumption and produces less heat as well.
