I'm sure the answer to this is somewhaere but I'm not great at searching. I have a RCa DVD recorder/DvD Combo and having some difficulty in recording vhs to dvd. I can record and play back in this player, but cannot in other players. They all play the same format so it is not a + or- issue. I think it is finalizing fine. Is it the copy protection? Is there a way aroun it on this machine? Thanks

Use better quality discs. Everything RCA/GE makes as far as consumer electronics is poor quality.

I am using Memorex +R. What do you recommend?

Memorex doesn't make their own discs, sometimes they are good, sometimes they aren't. Taiyo Yuden or Prodisc are both good discs. If you can still find Fuji spindles that say made in Japan, they are TY, if they say made in Taiwan, they are Prodisc, at least the DVD-Rs are. Other than Fuji, you would probably have to get them online, since TY and Prodisc aren't sold in stores as far as I know. Get the lowest speed discs you can, 16x are unreliable in standalones.
