I know what it means, it already has a HDTV tuner built in. But if my area doesn't have HD signals off-air, do I even need an HD-Ready TV?

My basic question is: Does HD-Ready mean that the TV can only pick up off-air broadcasts?

The tuner in the TV can pick up both NTSC Broadcast TV and Digital (including HD) TV. The TV will be capable of displaying HD if you get it from cable or Sat. I don't know what area you are in so I don't know if you ever will get HD over the air but some of the tuners in the HD ready sets pick up some cool things in the cable from the cable company.
