My old Sanyo TV has a problem-The built in speaker does not work anymore after using headphones-Can only listen with headphones now-
Q:Can I temporary hook an external speaker up to it? And if yes, can I plug it into the headphone jack? Sorry if this is a stupid question, just don't know -

No, there won't be enough power for speakers. If the speakers turn off when the headphone plug is inserted, then it's probably just a bad headphone jack.

Powered speakers connected to headphone jack would probably work. Anonymous has an excellent suggestion.

If you have a stereo with audio inputs at home, you can do what I did and buy a 5$ "headphone to A/V (Red and White) cable". Then you can use the stereo to provide your sound.

it should have an audio output in the rca format on the back. Use thoes and hook it up to an amp or a stereo.
