Do manufacturers actually sell multiregion kit, or all multiregion players hacked?
The reason I ask is that I'm just about to buy a JVC DR-MV1 writeable DVD/VCR combo. JVC's website says nothing about an MR version, but a web search shows lots of standard MV1's at about £260, and some MR versions at about £300-£310. One retailer is even offering a standard MV1 at £309 and offering a zero-cost multiregion upgrade.
Are the MR retailers simply adding their own hack and charging £50 for it? If so, is this any better than buying the hack CD myself for £10?
