I have a Pioneer 510. I've been using 4X DVD-Rs up until now, but a salesman talked me into purchasing Verbatim 8X. Will these work all right and what's the difference?

I haven't had any problems using 4X or 8X, but I've seen posts from people that have. The 4X and 8X applies to computer burners, standalones record in real time.

...standalones record in real time.

Not my Panasonic E-80 and E-85. They can highspeed dub at 4x for the E-80 and 8x for the E-85. Unless you meant the initial recordimg to the hard drive but once on the drive and edited the highspeed dub is in the digital domain and lossless.
