Surround Sound Not Working On New Tv,

okay, so i got a new 32inch LCD TV and my surround sound is no longer working, it worked previously on my last 2 tvs, but for some reason when i plug in the cables(red and white)no sound comes out.if i pull them out from the back of the tv and into the dvd player i will get sound from the dvd player, but none from my tv.the only ports i have on the back are, a yellow, red, white and an SPDIF.1 scart n 1 HDMI.

On the back of my surround sound i have 4 ports, 2 red 2 white(2 are for little side speakers).

I really need help guys, thanks

You do not have a red and white audio out from your TV so you can't use that connection. Check the back of the TV to see what is labled out put, it is probably only the optical plug. If you have a cable box use the red and white out puts from that to the stereo.
