I am going to install my plasma over the fire place in my house and there is an outlet right over the fire place on the wall
My question is do I need a surge protector for my tv? the tv is the only thing that will get plugged into that outlet. the reason that I ask is because I really dont want an extra wire running down my wall. I have a Pioneer plasma with a seperate receiver box for all the conecions that will get pluged in in another outlet there I would use a surge protecteor

Well, what do you think may happen without one?

Well, the best answer is yes. They make surge protectors that are small enough to mount behind the plasma and you can then keep the wires hidden.

It only takes one nasty spike.
