Hi,

my receiver has 1 digital coax input and 3 optical inputs. my dvd player and cable providers are both digital coax ouputs.

i was considering buying "DAYTON DAC-CO COAXIAL TO OPTICAL CONVERTER" at Amazon to convert one of my inputs to optical.

Would anyone be able to tell me the pros and cons of this approach.

Will I lose sound quality?
how good is this particular converter?
is there any risk of damage if i use the converter?
are there other options i can consider?

thanks

varges,
Since both coax audio (S/PDIF) and optical (Toslink) are digital, this conversion should not be a problem full of pluses or minuses. Either you have sound after the conversion or you don't, there's no in-between. All you need is an available plug-in for its power.
