I recently purchased a Delphi boombox for my XM radio system and would like to use a pair of JBL bookshelf speakers in addition to/instead of the crappy speakers on the boombox. Is it possible to hook up my speakers to the headset speaker output? I tried this: spliced walkman headset wire to speaker wire and ran to speakers - terrible sound quality. Do I need some kind of transformer/converter? Is this something I can do myself as a self-described novice?
actually you will need som money to spend on a receiver or an amplifier to drive the jbl bookshelves. The headset output is just not equipped to do that, no matter the type splicing you do. If the radio system has any speaker outputs, use them and not the headset.
