i have an open wall behind my home theater(the one i'm dreaming about anyway) and so i'm wondering if all of the incredible things i've heard about axiom speakers is just another dissapointment as they have rear vents and i'm worried i'll lose much of my sound and base without a wall behind it.

Not sure I'd worry about it as much as if there was a wall behind them, the rear port needs space behind it or else you will get a boomy effect from the speakers.. if it is still a concern I found the new Paradigm Studio Version 3 speakers are front ported which work well for me since I do have a wall behind my speakers.. I do dare to say also the Paradigm Studio version 3 are as good or in my honest opinion better then Axiom Speakers.. just my 2 cents....
