okay, i'm a second year teacher, so it would suffice to say that my budget is modest. ideally, i'd buy a piece a year, but from the information i get, new speakers and new receivers require each other immediately.

at anyrate, i'd like to start with front bookshelfs and have heard and like the klipsch rb25's. looking at reviews the energy conisseur c-3's look great too, but i'm not sure i have any way of listening to them.

as far as the receiver, i have no idea. each time i look and each time i get advice, my choice changes completely.

i'd like to keep the price of the bookshelfs and the receiver somewhere around $300 each(where the bookshelfs seem to be around on the net)and would like to add a difinitive technology pcc2 center this summer perhaps.

any advice on starting my first home theater system would be great. my college dolby pro-logic sony shelf system just can't do it anymore on dvd's.

thanks in advance.

i've also received some advice here about paradigm studio version three speakers? anyone have their 2 cents to share about them? i'm thinking of something front vented simply because i have an open wall behind my tv and am worried the rear vented speakers would waste all their great sound into my dining room behind the living room(split level home, all open).

I would go with panasonic sa-xr45 receiver :
This is a digital receiver, and looks slim and smart as well as sounding better than other $300 receiver.

For speakers, I would recommend Axiom 3ti, voted the best speaker for the price by the pros on the web.

If you get these, i would add the axiom center instead of the Definitive one - perhaps it's best to keep all the speakers from a same maker - will sound better.

Right now, you can get a good deal on their sub (demo) at the sight.

Upgrade cables to ixos 6003 speaker cable at :

This is the place for axom speakers:

For $1150, you will be ending up with a pretty good sounding midfi, noticeably better than all in one packages!
