True Story behind bipole, Dipole, Tripole speaker set ups in a HT

Soon I will be upgrading to a 7.1 system, then i started reading about dipole speakers and now im confused about what to do when setting up the 2 extra channels. How many dipole speakers would I need to for a 7.1 system. Help a newb out. Cheers
