So I have a set of klipsch promedia ultra speakers using spring clip connectors (the sub has died rendering system uesless)... i dont have the budget right now to buy a WHOLE home theater system but i can pick up a sub and a receiver.

if i bought a receiver, and all that i saw in stores uses RCA type connections, how can i connect those spring clip type speakers? any adapter i can buy? and will running these low power speakers under a higher powered sub damage them?

thanks in advance

I love this.

Bill Gates doesn't know how to connect electronics nor does he have the extra scratch to get a HTIB.

Bill, those receivers you saw would have RCA component inputs/outputs, but should have normal binding post speaker terminals that would allow you to bare wire your speakers and still use the spring clips on your speakers. If they don't well I'd be flabbergasted.

And if you are getting a new sub, it should have it's own amplification and control to favour your speakers.

Speak to your dealer.
