Repair of Speakers ?

Anonymous
I have two Optimus 660 Speaker towers, the woofers & midrange speakers have failed. The cones of each are fine but the foam that connected the cone to the metal frame of the speakers has disintegrated. Can I reattach them with some type of fabric? If so what kind ?
Thanks

You can get woofer repair kits at www.partsexpress.com. I would recommend you replace them with new drivers though, because they can be had for as little as $10 and it may not be worth your time. Besides changing the surround will change the drivers charactoristics. Partsexpress gives you recommended box sizes for thier drivers based upon the driver's perameters. Measure the INSIDE of your box and match them up. This still will not be a direct replacement but it's close. Get a driver with butyl rubber surrounds and they wont rot in the future.

Radio Shack can also order replacement parts.

Hope this helps.
