Danny Richie who designs for AV123 designed that x/o for the OB2X (there's also a OB3X), so there's a good chance that the similarities might be more than skin-deep. |

Of course this just adds to the reason why I wouldn't actually ever buy an AV123 product: a complete lack of a design philosophy other than "make a design that looks cool and produce it for cheap in China". I mean, I have no problem with hybrid electrostats, line source arrays, open baffle speakers, box speakers, and whatever else they're planning on producing; heck I'd like to hear a decent example of each at some point in my life. But I suspect that a company that produces all of the above seemingly just so they have a product in that category, and then proclaims each one to be the very best money can buy, only does a mediocre job at any one thing. |

The only AV123 product I've heard was the Strata Mini, and they were pretty damn good. All the AV123 products, to date, have been very well received. So perhaps these new products will not disappoint, but I agree that their product line can use some streamlining. |
