Have an older bose acoustimass 7 system. The base unit just wires between the two front and the center speaker. Bought new reciever with connection for subwoofer. Can it be adapted?

John:

The "module" of your Bose system is not a subwoofer at all--it is simply a woofer for the minispeakers that comprise the Bose system.

If you want to hear a "real" subwoofer without breaking the bank, check out the STF-1 sub from HSu Research, which is on sale for $249 right now. You will be amazed at what it can do when connected to a receiver with a sub out jack.
