New to seperate amps....found a couple i'm interested in...opinions!?

I see on the back of the receiver it has preouts...does that mean i can use it as a preamp? next..i used to work at a theater and saw they used QSC and Crown amps so i started to search for them...found a few good deals. what are these amps like?

" Yes, you can! QSC and Crown amps are great professional amps. Works great for demanding environments but a little harsh for home use. I wouldn't rule them out.

I was searching on ebay and couldnt' beleive some of their prices...can you suggest something a little better for home use?

I found a couple on ebay for around the $250 range...i know that's very little for an amp but that's what sparked my interest.
