New member Username: NessaPost Number: 1 Registered: Oct-06 | My roommate and I bought a technics sl-d205 turntable at a garage sale- neither of us had any experience with record players, and so after much internet searching and self-educating I've finally got it *almost* working. I had to get a new cartridge- I got a Shure M92E, which I know isn't very good, but I couldn't afford the high quality cartridges. The problem now is that the stylus skates over the records or else won't read it- it seems the anti-tracking control is always too high or too low. When I finally get the anti-tracking exactly right to start the record, I then have to lower it slightly each track or else it won't go on to the next song. The sound quality also isn't very good, especially with the s's- I saw this addressed elsewhere but this is with a brand new stylus and record. Is there anything I could do to fix this or I am stuck with it because of my turntable and cartridge? Thanks so much for helping! |
