Im not sure what kind of a response you will get on this board asking that question. Most of us think that bose 901's are not equipment that we would like to own, and therefore have little experience with them.

you would be better off calling Bose IMHO and asking them yourself.

Thought about selling the Bose and getting something "better". What would you suggest in the $1200 range?

you have lots of options in that price range...

can you answer these questions for starters?

how big is your room?
what type(s) of music do you prefer?
would you prefer towers or bookshelvs?
-bookshelves of the same price as towers GENERALLY
perform better, but your room size is the deciding factor
here.
do you like to listen loud?

remember... if you are happy with the bose, that is what matters... just because we as a group think they are overpriced and overhyped, if YOU are happy with them, that is what counts.

but...you can do MUCH better for that price than the blose

(oops...did I say that) :-)

Living room is approx. 14'x26'. I would prefer towers. I listen to mostly R&R(70's and up). Yes, I have a tendency to crank them up when nobody is around. I got a good deal on the "Blose" several years back and have been somewhat okay with them, but I know they are over-hyped.

ok...cool!

what type of sound do you like? by this I mean what is most important to you out of the following...because in this price range you have to make trade offs (although minor, and EVERYTHING will be a HUGE step above the bose

rank these in the order of most (top) to least important (bottom)

bass depth
midrange (vocals)
treble (cymbals, strings, upper range of human voice)
