I've got a Alto Macro 1400W with 2x 15" 450W Infinity speakers. I need to run it off a generator for a family wedding. How can big a generator do I need? Will a 5kW be enough? Is the 1400W the input power or the output power?
I assume it is the output power. The amount of wattage the amplifier draws should be on a label on the back of the amplifier. Exceed that amount by a comfortable margin and you should be OK.

thanks a mil. Someone else that I talked to said that the amp will draw about 120% of its output power. (when it's peaking) so it'll pull about 1700W max. I should be fine.
