Have high end yamaha receiver 7.1 surround rxv2500
have one pair polk sda speakers about 15 years old-working great

have one pair polk r 30s not hooked up

thinking of getting Polk PSW303 Black
Powered Subwoofer or Velodyne DPS-10 Programmable Subwooferand

Would also get a surround system such as Polk RM6750
Six-piece, 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System

If I go for the above how should I hook up the R30's to my receiver? Would I in essence get 7.1 surround sound or should I buy 2 more satellite speakers and use the r30's up front with the SDAs. Is the Velodyne a good enough subwoofer for me with this set up? Are cheaper velodyne's as good?
Any help would be appreciated as I don't know a lot about this stuff
Thanks

I used to sell at home audio circuit city. I haven't heard this sub yet but am going in to my old store today to check it out. I must say that the velo always beat polk for subs (and I love Polk have r50's myself). Generally it was the lack of shake in the sound. Just bring in some heavy fast bass and low long bass, listen to them and you should be able to tell
