ANYONE use some sort of power convertor to hook an amp up in the house

My science teacher had one.. he could crank all the way up to 30 sumtin volts.. im thinken i could hook an amp up in my room, headunit aswell.. maybe id have to use a battery also.. anyone doing this

check the car audio section. ive seen ppl talking about similar things at great length

lol but thats a car.. my bad just thought it would be over this way i can see what u mean tho.. cause their car amps ttyl

haha....sorry. when i read "head unit" and the idea of a battery, car audio clicked in my head. i have no idea how to do it....frankly im very new to this. hope someone else sees this and is of more help.
