I have 2 12 inch mtx 9500s in a sledgehammer box, and i am getting a mtx 8001D amp to run them. I dont think the amp has enough power to run them. What do you think about the amp and what amp would you use to power them.

first of all, i would put those subs in a custom box, i hate the sledge boxes and i think they sound like (sh!t)

and no, that amp only does 1000 i believ. i would get a much bigger amp. but also, i would get diff subs that arnt so power hungry.

the Mtx TA81001 you mean? that amp is 1500 wrms at 1 ohm and they are underratted, mine is 1958 wrms at 1 ohm. i've heard 2 12" 9500 in a custom made sledgehammer box power by an Mtx TA 81001 and it was very loud for that kind of car, an Mitsubishi Lancer.

get an amp putting 2000w rms, i think they're dual 4 ohm so get a soundstream picasso 2000d... that would be good and kinda budget... if you're tight then get PA a 3000db or hifonics 2006d

Here are the specs for the amp
MTX 800-Watt RMS Mono-Channel Amplifier (MXA8001)

800-watt RMS mono-channel amplifier: Pushes out 800 watts RMS to a single 2-ohm subwoofer or 400 watts RMS to a single 4-ohm subwoofer.

Crossover: The low-pass filter maximizes your system performance and creates clear, hard-hitting bass.

MOSFET power supply: Your amplifier runs cooler and more efficiently, preserving the life of your amp.

Speaker-level inputs: You can use this amp with your existing stereo, even if it doesn't have preamp outputs. Just connect the amp to your speaker outputs.

Bass boost: The bass boost gives extra thump to your lows.

Model: MXA8001
