Vintage Technics speakers + HK325 receiver

AW
I recently bought an HK325 receiver. Awhile back, I was given a pair of Technics SB-CX300 speakers. They are full-frequency-response, floor standing, bass reflex speakers, and were supposed to be great speakers 10-15 yrs ago.

Here is the problem. The Technics are 6 ohms, and the HK325 is rated at 8 ohms. I called HK tech support and asked their opinion. They said that they "don't recommend" hooking up 6 ohm speakers to the HK325, but that I could go ahead and give it a try to see if it shuts off in protection mode.

So...

1) Any opinions about hooking up these 6 ohm speakers to the HK325? Am I risking damage to my receiver and/or speakers?

2) Any thoughts about the vintage Technics in general versus speakers out there today?
