I have recently purchased a Pioneer Elite Vsx-91txh and it certainly demonstrates much improved sound quality at all levels compared to the old receiver.

That is, of course, why I purchased it.

The problem is that the bass has no power to it at any level. This is a problem of the speakers, and so I must augment them with a subwoofer.

I recently changed the audio output on my computer from analog to digital as I decided the DACs in my receiver would be superior to those in the computer. They are. I have made sure all audio files on my computer are at least 256kb/s. This has improved it, but there's something wrong.

Help.

I'm not sure that the relatively poor quality of your audio sources would be responsible for the lack of bass...

I never said that.

That's totally due to the speakers.

KLH AV5001 x2 - Drivers: 1", 3" 12" PR: 12" (same excursion) - In-room usable output (tested by me) 45hz to as high as I can hear - measured 110dB 45hz and 100dB 37hz

Used as mains

JBL 4311 x2 - Drivers :N/A, N/A, 12" - In-room usable output 30hz on up - hit amplifier limits 113dB 40hz and 103dB 27hz

Used as surrounds

I'm going to try putting the JBL in the front due to the measurements.

Get a subwoofer. Get a subwoofer that can get the SPLs that you're looking for. SVS probably would be a good one for you Andre. Or you can get one of my machinations.

It would've been built over a month ago if I had the cash.

That is nothing compared to the awesome power of 144 2.5" drivers working in unison in a sealed enclosure.

Ok I decided to do the math because I'm bored.

The one I designed has 650 cubic inches of displacement in the drivers.

The one you're joking around about has 106 cubic inches, providing my math is correct.

That's funny that those 2.5" drivers could have that much displacement.
