Here's the deal:...Vintage tube receiver (Harmon Kardon, circa 1962 and it works very well and can rocks the room!).... The left channel has an occasional "snap, crackle or pop"---just like playing an LP a few scratches on it (remember those?) It's not all the time, but every once in awhile. I've checked tubes on a meter (other than occasional gas, most are fine), I've switched around the tubes, checked the switches/pots (volume knob, balance, etc--no luck), switched around the speakers....basically all the obvious things. Is this perhaps a sign of a bad capacitor or resistor for this left channel? No big deal, just has me guessing. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. |

Unregistered guest | Hi there, two things- first buy a can of compressed air from a office max or office depot or any place that sells it. Next take the top of the receiver off, and blow out all the dust. Last you need to buy a can of contact cleaner, such as caig. They make good contact cleaner so visit www.caig.com and take a look, and once you buy some electric contact cleaner- spray the cleaner in switches & pots and work it in by adjusting each switch & pot at least 10 times. Make sure you unplug your HK and let it dry for at least 24 hours. |
