New member Username: JordiePost Number: 2 Registered: 12-2003 | Has anyone tested these two receivers? Which one would be a better match for the Def Techs?(bp2004tl,2006tl) thank u! |
New member Username: MichaelslbPost Number: 8 Registered: 12-2003 | Adrian, I haven't yet tested the new Marantz, but I own a SR6300 and I think most folks would agree with me that BOTH the Marantz and the Elite would be a good match for your speakers. The bottom line is, try to listen to both of the receivers and go with the one YOU like best. They are both great units that, when matched with the right speakers, should provide a lot of listening pleasure. If possible, try to listen to them both with your speakers and then decide. Hope that helps! Michael |

New member Username: MichaelslbPost Number: 10 Registered: 12-2003 | Hi Brent, Nope, no problems and definitely no complaints. But... if I had to gripe, it would probably be that there is no adjustable crossover for the sub. With all speakers set to small it crosses over at 100hz. I know this isn't a big deal in most situations, and it was hard to even fault the receiver for this, as it does everything else so well. Also noteworthy is that this particular model, the SR6300, supports 6.1. If you want to go for 7.1, take a look at the new SR7400 model. Tyhe fact is, Marantz makes some very nice receivers, and should match up exceptionally well with your speakers---smoothing out some of their brightness. Either unit should also give you plenty of power with your highly efficient speakers, playing loud and clean. Enjoy! Michael |
New member Username: HarboltPost Number: 6 Registered: 12-2003 | Michael. I have been reading on this board about the complaints of the Marantz getting very hot and shutting down. I don't have much of an air space in my cabinet and was wondering if you have experienced this with your 6300. Also, their are reports about the sub dropping out in some stereo modes. Have you experienced this? My biggest worry is the overheating though. You can email me direct at harbolt@comcast.net if you would like. Brent |
New member Username: MichaelslbPost Number: 12 Registered: 12-2003 | Hmmm... from what I've noticed, in more than 300 hours of stereo and surround mode listening, I haven't seen the sub drop out in any modes... it's even active when I play back CD's in s- direct/analog. I have noticed that my Marantz gets fairly warm at times (pushing five 6ohm speakers), but it hasn't been a problem and hasn't come anywhere near shutting down. This is even after playing at moderate to high volumes for 12+ hours straight. But, I have it on the top shelf of my open rack and it has LOTS of room to breath. You could try mounting a simple fan in your cabinet to blow the hot air out. I believe most receivers will get pretty warm if not allowed to breath properly. The biggest reason to keep a receiver cool is to prolong it's lifespan, and I haven't heard of too many shutting down from the heat. Also, any receiver you get (including a Marantz) should play slightly cooler with your highly efficient Klipsch speakers. Hope that helps! Michael |
New member Username: MichaelslbPost Number: 13 Registered: 12-2003 | Oops, I forgot to note: I haven't listened to the radio with my Marantz, as I think most of what the radio plays sucks, so I can't comment if the sub is active in this mode or not. My guess would be that it does. Michael |
