everyone on here is stuck between marantz denon nad and yama. and it seems like everyone has a least one bad thing to say about each of them. i know everyone has different opinions and thats fine but my question is this... is there a receiver out there that everyone can pretty much agree on that smashes the compition...i need a receiver and im willing to spend up to $2000 it also needs phono inputs! any help would be appreciated
That's an easy one... go for Seperates... Outlaw, Adcom, Parasound and B&K to name a few... you'll get the best sound for your money and I find there are much less issues going Preamp/amp route other then more money.. if I had the money I would have gone that route myself... I listened to my present paradigm Studios through Parasound's Halo seperates and the sound was wonderful... I do have to say my present NAD sounded close to the Parasound but cost $800 less and to me it was a good move.. not a bug here with my NAD such has been mentioned here by other NAD users....
Luke, First of all the answer is no. Now to help you I ask what speakers do you have and are you keeping them? Except for Outlaw seperates for $2000 is an iffy proposition.
elitefan thanks for the reply...i have audiovector m3 avantgarde speakers and apparently not many people have heard of them..i got a killer deal on them the people who set up my room gave me there demo pair for there cost of 6,500 for the pair and i did as much research as i did before i purchased them because thats a huge investment for me...i ended up getting ahold of the distributor and they sell for 9000 a piece so looks like a got a killer deal..hope that helps out im really lost as what receiver to buy or preamp but i need phono inputs thanks for the help!!!
It's hard to answer this without having heard your speakers but I did find out they are horn type from Germany and are very unusual to say the least. From what I know about horn types I would choose to go with a receiver on the warm side. for your budget I would consider the Elite vsx55txi, Marantz 8300, and H/K 7200. The 7200 is on closeout now and can be had for under $1000. It's a very large, powerful unit and a steal for it's price right now. The advantage of the Elite besides it's great sound , build and beauty is it has firewire connections for future use. The Marantz is also a very powerful, warm sounding unit. The Elite and Marantz have 8 analog inputs while the H/K only has 6 if that is important. These units and the Outlaw seperates would be what I would consider for your budget and speakers. Good luck and let us know what you decide.
I just remembered your need for a phonoinput and unfortunatly only the Elite has one. You can always use a phono preamp but I agree it's best to have a phone input included in the units input package.
