Hi everyone. Hoping someone may have info on this problem.

This deck has been laying around for a long while. I finally got around to replacing with a new belt set and cleaning. The deck plays/records and plays/ff/rw and apart from the memory switch it was ok. On playing back a test tape I found that it was running slow. I went to adjust the speed from the motor and as soon as it was touched it went haywire, slowed right down and can't be set anymore. I have not touched the highspeed settings as that's adjusted else where on the board. I use plastic screwdrivers so not been any type of short ect.
I am just wondering if stripping the motor down and giving it a good clean deoxit ect might help or it may have something to do with the 2 components attached to the motor. Electrics of this type are still a bit of a nightmare for me.

Thanks for any help with this.
