Hello audio enthusiasts, I need some help. I am looking at getting 5.1 audio that will sound good with both movies and music. I watch lots of movies and listen mostly to rock, both older and modern. Also some dance music, techno, etc.

I am looking at pairing a Yamaha receiver (either the RX-V1400 or 2400) with either:

Paradigm
Monitor 9 floor standing fronts
PS-1000 subwoofer
CC-170 center
ADP-170 rear surrounds

Or

Klipsch
RF-25 floor standing fronts
RW-12 subwoofer
RC-25 center
RS 25 rear surrounds

I am also planning to listen to PSB's new Image Series line when they get to the store by me. They are supposed to arrive within a few days.

I understand the Paradigms above may not be matched perfectly. The CC-170 may be a little small matched up with the monitor 9s. I wonder if that center channel would be enough when in a movie with a battle type scene with dialogue?

What do you all think of these options? Recommendations? Thanks

I would change your Paradigm lineup to the Monitor 7 for fronts and then get the cc-370 for the center. I have always liked the 7 better than the 9, tighter bass, less boomy and the cc370 is a very good center. I would not consider the Klipsch with Yamaha. The 1400 and 2400 are much better than previous models but still a bit thin and not a good match with the very bright Klipsch. Listener fatique will set in very quickly. Do listen to the PSB's and then choose between them and the Paradigm's.
