Kenwood vr 6070

hi
I need some help i have a kenwood vr6070 and when i am watching a blu ray movie after some time the sound goes off my surround but i can hear it on the tv. I am going digital into the kenwood so i dont what can be wrong i need help. Also if i turn of the receiver and turn it back on the surround sound is back on.

There are several possible causes here and it is not to anyone's benefit to list them all just for the sake of listing them. Begin by removing all the speaker cables running from the outputs of your receiver. Do this at the back panel of the receiver and not at the speakers. With no speakers attached to the receiver, play a disc at what would be a normal volume and let us know whether the receiver still shuts down. If so, the problem is most likely in the receiver itself. If not, then we need to search for other causes.

At risk of starting 'the never ending list', I'd just ask how warm this receiver is getting. A good dust clog would certainly cause an overheat / shutdown.
If it doesnt' shut down with speakers disconnected......
