Too bad, they were gems. Near impossible to find now.

Mission (along with the other AIG brands) needs a good N.American distributor.

Older Jamo towers dirt cheap.....never heard them myself but I know they have a following here.

And a full 5.0 setup.

Although the center doesn't look like it matches the towers, so I don't know that that's worth it. Still, the towers on their own seem like a good deal.

I'm new here, and maybe I missed something since this thread was started a while ago, but in response to the original post that price can be beaten pretty easily.

Thank you for the offer, Nuck.

I thought about it and decided against it.

I had been trying to get a pair of those, roughly two ...maybe closer to three years ago. Couldn't find a pair.

That was long before my discovering Jamo.

When I read that in this tread, it brought back a bit of that intrigue; regarding those Mission speakers.

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how happy I am with my Jamo and Wharfedale Opus 2 speakers. I feel like my speaker lineup is thoroughly complete and I very happy with them. I'm content.

The only speaker move I need to make is to sell my Jamo C807 in Dark Apple finish; for a pair of C807 in then Black finish.

The Dark Apple doesn't really work with our new decor. The black finish(which is actually really, really nice) looks beautiful and it will blend in much better with the new decor.

Otherwise, I'm focusing on saving for those Mac amps I mentioned in the other thread.

Thanks again!

This forum has always kind of run like that. Mac, Bryston, Naim, Rega, Wharfedale, Totem...there have a been a number of runs on specific brands here....back in the day it was Paradigm, NAD and Rotel. Bet there won't be a Sonneteer and DeVore run.

I don't know. There's nothing like the synergy of the Mac gear.

And the synergy the Macs have with the Wharfedale and Jamo speakers.

I've always put a lot of significance into system synergy. but spent most of my time trying to find good synergy with pieces of gear, from several different manufactors.

But when my buddy brought over his Mac gear.....three years ago and we hooked it up to my Opus 2 speakers; I was thoroughly seduced. Bought the C220 and MC252, immediately.

Then, had to sell those two mac pieces almost as immediately as I bought them, because of the seperation and then divorce.

I kind of vowed to myself to find my way back to those two Mac pieces (C220 and MC252). Never got that out of my mind. Just bided my time till things got better for me.

So now I have the McIntosh C220 back in the fold (it was the least expensive to get, right now).

And my buddy brings over his MC252, MC362 and C220 so we can give the Jamo C803, C807 and C809 a whirl with the Mac gear (and Rega Saturn).

I was blown away by the sweet, musical synergy between these Jamo speakers and the Mac gear.

And a HUGE banner unfolded inside my head, it read....." This is it! You've found the perfect combo for the Jamo and Wharfedale Opus 2. You need look no more."

I truely believe my search for speakers if finished. These Jamo and Opus 2 give me everything I want from my music.

Prior to discovering the Jamo's. I have been searching for speakers for my other two systems in my house.

My Wharfedale Opus 2 are under lock and key and the kids are forbidden (and locked out) from ever going in there without me.

That gorgeous piano black finish was never exposed to and will never be exposed to the rough and tumble antics of my kids (when they were toddlers and now that they're 5 1/2 and 3 and a 1/2).

That whole system is Authorized Personell Only

So needed some speakers that have the sound I love, are high quality; but wouldn't be tragic if one of my kids accidently did something and scratched or chipped the finish. Not to mention, something not as expensive as the Opus 2.

So after several years of revolving speaker tryouts; enter the Jamo's.

Highy quality designs, beautiful, musical sound, quality build; but no real wood veeners or gloss laquers.

No big problem if an accident occurs.

Don't get me wrong. My kids are actually very good kids, very well-mannered and they do respect not my gear; but other people's property.

But ay of you (who may be parents yourselves), kids do sometimes lose their minds, get excited and get all caught up in their little world pf play and fun. And sometimes, they just ain't right in the head

If anything should ever happen to the finish of the Jamo's. I'll just get some black canvas/art paint and carefully match it to the finish of the C80 Series and very carefully brush it over with an artist's painting brush.

No big deal. A lot easier and a whole lot less expensive than trying to get a real wood venner or gloss finish fixed.

There are several reasons why this is not such a good deal:
1) BA is not what is used to be. Back in 1991 I paid $750 for a set of bookshelves and a passive sub. The sound is so rich I still use the set today. BA has gone mass market and sells PC speakers. I don't know how good this set is.
2) The set is refurbished. I don't hold that as a sufficient reason not to buy, but it does reduce value.
3) This is ecosts. I have received physically broken items from them under the banner of "refurbished" and "recertified." The combination of those words and ecost is potentially lethal.
4) ecost makes their money on S&H. Add this item to the checkbox and they want to charge you $40 to ship it. Somehow the value diminishes at that point.

http://www.amazon.com/Boston-Acoustics-MCS100MDNT...

For the record, I have seen this package on sale @ Amazon for about $229 NIB, but that was a while back.

The $40 s/h charge from ecost does put a bit of a damper on things, but I still think this represents a good deal.

I'm sorry to see that you've had bad experiences with ecost, but I've bought a number of products from them, most refurbished, with not even a hint of trouble; that being said, let the buyer beware.

While I agree BA is not what it used to be, it is owned by D&M Holdings, parent company of McIntosh, Marantz, Snell, Denon, so I'll assume they still have the means of producing some very good speakers.

Further, I've heard these speakers & I think they're pretty good...for the price. I have also owned a pair of recently discontinued CR77 that were excellent & regret selling, and still own a Receptor Radio which is superb. As for being a computer speaker company, Polk & Klipsch also make computer speakers and still manage to turn out some respectable higher-end gear, so I think it's an unfair charge.

If someone is looking for an out-of-the-box surround sound solution without breaking the bank, I think this is a very good choice.

When I bought the BA, I was happy but also green with envy over another pair of Klipsch speakers that I couldn't afford.

Screw Boston, screw Harman, screw Jamo and the rest of the overpriced looser gang. I just ordered the Scan Speak RBR set from Madisound for $399 + some hardware + shipping to Ireland = about $530. I'll be using sealed cabinets for these babies and highpass them with 4th order at 80Hz, 'cause I'm using a Dayton Audio Reference sub powered with 500W O Audio amp. The monitors with the cabinets, import duties and all should come to about $900, however, for all that I'll be getting a pair of speakers that would cost me in the 5K range if I were to get them commercially!!! I am excited as f*ck!!!

I always found it funny that Walmart will sell guns, but not CD's with the f-word. Hmmmmm......

Not bargains, but very good prices none the less on Wharfedale Opus2s at Wild West.

Wish I had the money, the Opuses are somewhat of a "dream speaker" for me right now thanks to what I've heard from the Evo2s.

What exactly makes that Teac a "reference" unit worthy of $800?

I bet that TEAC is actually a pretty nice all in one unit. TEAC makes some very high end gear (under the Esoteric name). With a tuner, CDP, and amp that runs about $266 per each component, and you've got it in one box, which would be seen as a benefit for some people.

Better than separates? Probably not, though I have found that achieving synergy with separates (of different makes) is quite a bit more challenging than achieving it with an all in one unit...which should have a lot of synergy already built in.

I don't know. At 40wpc and weighing in at 12 pounds, I just can't bring myself to think it's much more than a speaker system for iPods plus a CD player. At that price it better have a hell of a signal processor

You forgot Wi-Fi Internet Radio, which I think is very cool.

I'm sure this is would make for a very nice bedroom/office unit.

This might be one the best deals I've ever come across,

http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Ears-TripleFi-Isolating-Earphones/dp/B0019RBJOE

The $399 Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10 (or $419 "vi" w/microphone) Noise Isolating Earphones for $99!

Jump on these folks, I think it's a one day deal.

I think it was a typo, or else they got rid of it very quickly. It was listed in the "New for $99" and I tried to put it in the basket, but no luck

LOL

Just picked up 3 of these Infinity TSS-SAT750 just in case I ever want to delve back into the world of 5.1, they sort of match my Primus P362/PS310.

Anywho, they were $15 a pop with free delivery and have plenty of nice write-ups.
