"NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stereo equipment magnate Sidney Harman is close to sealing a deal to buy Newsweek magazine from The Washington Post Co, according to a Monday report on The New York Times' Media Decoder blog."

Intersting the article fails to mention that Sidney Harman is also the husband of sitting Congresswoman Jane Harman (D-CA).

Well, that's optimistic, isn't it?

Going just by that article, where do we send flowers?

Harman's been a very savvy businessman for the last six decades. He's rescued other enterprises who were much farther down the tube than Newsweek, including his own namesake company at least once.

The talking heads must be jumping for joy right now. Just yesterday I heard Limbaugh ranting about how Andy Griffith is a devoted "lefty". His caller had called in to say he had seen Griffith in a shop many years ago but Griffith didn't speak to anyone and seemed only to want to get in and out as quickly as possible, which proved he wasn't the kind of guy this Limbaugh listener wanted to have anything to do with. That prompted the "lefty" rant. Just think what they can do with Jane Harman's spouse owning a news organization?

Nice. Andy G. won't sign autographs at store where he just wants a cup of coffee or to buy a tee-shirt and he is an anti-social 'lefty'.

I've seen celebs.......and I think they appreciate being either ignored or a simple head nod. Stepping out of your house to grab a burger and being mobbed by autograph hounds and paparazzi is cloying at best. Intrusive and rude at worst.
