Can I use stereo cable with a mini plug on MAC side and cut other plug and use Bryston provided block connector so MAC sends power signal to BDA-1 to turn it on and off automaticly?

MA6300:
http://mcintoshlabs.com/downloads/product_manuals/ma6300om02.pdf
Power Control Connector
The MA6300 Power Control Output Jack sends Power On/
Off Signals when connected to other
McIntosh Components. A 1/8 inch
stereo mini phone plug is used for connection
to the Power Control Output
on the MA6300.

BDA-1:
http://bryston.com/pdfs/09/BDA1_MANUAL_20090710(4pg).pdf
11: REMOTE TRIGGER INPUT:
The BDA-1 is supplied with a Trigger input put to facilitate remote hard wired on/off control. A two pin socket mates with the CO110A-11102 bare-wire terminal block connector supplied with your BDA-1 (see illustation below-left). Supplying a DC control voltage between 3 and 12 volts (at greater than or equal to approximately 3mA) will allow you to remotely power your BDA-1 on or off. The the Remote Trigger input takes precedence over the front panel push-button switch. If a valid control voltage is initially applied to the trigger input when the BDA-1 is already powered on it may be necessary to toggle the unit OFF-and-ON once, via the Trigger input, to establish the precedence of the trigger input signal over the front panel power switch.

As long as the Mac kicks out the proper voltage (between 3 and 12 volts) from the remote terminal, theoretically it should work.

Seems like a bit of a hack job though. With 2 nice pieces of gear like that I wouldn't. Why not just turn the BDA on when you turn the 6300 on?

Just leave the BDA-1 on all the time. It sounds better warm and isn't a pig on power like the 6300 possibly would be.

And I agree with David, with two nice pieces like that I wouldn't take the risk.

I will check with Bryston. It is not really a hack. If you look at the manual (http://bryston.com/pdfs/09/BDA1_MANUAL_20090710(4pg).pdf )
this is what they show - to use their provided terminal block connector, strip wire and connect.
Of cause I dont want to damage neither so I will call support before doing anything.
With the current set up I have listen yesterday to Diana Krall - Temptation, - amazing! The Arro's dissapeared the sound was comming from the center, all the details.... Did not have a much time for other music, can't wait for the weekend..

Still waiting for response from a dealer - he will contact Mcintosh and Bryston directly to confirm.
I have listen difrent types of music and I am very happy with results. I may demo Hawks just to compare to Arro's. I would not mind bigger soundstage, more open, but I do not want to loose it the details Arro's are providing. According to my dealler Hawks are going to be Arro's and more. Will not loose any thing but it will be much better.

Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in

I have listen these Hawks for 2 days now and in my opinion there is nothing Arro can do that Hawk can not! General opinion is that Arro is the best at image, being direct, details of this Spanish or jazz guitar, piano, new age... I think Hawk is as good or better!
The Hawks have a fuller midrange and more bass, more power, you have filling like these are big, full, powerful speakers. My friend was listening the music he used to on his Winds and in his opinion it was very close or the same. And at last for me there was no issue of placing them in the corners, just about 6 inches from walls like the Arro's.

I've heard a lot of people say (and confirmed this myself) that the Arros are not suited to rock music, and is ideal for exactly what you mentioned. The Hawk can do all those genres, and everything in between!

I've auditioned all the Totem speakers a number of times and my all time favourite was the Mani's (given the right amplification). To me totally blew away even the Winds. My second favourite would me The One. I heard some Pantera (they were playing some weird new age crap and I asked them if they had any real music) cranked on those once with a full Bryston rig and the sound was so clear, tight and precise it was just crazy.

The Hawks are definitely an affordable alternative.

I love the Hawks. The One is as it is named...the One. Everytime I see a pair go up on sale used, I'm tempted.
