Hi, I`ve got receiver Yamaha HTR-5930 and I was trying to connect my PC to it through optical output (sound). But I can't manage to get all 5.1 sound. Only 2 front speakers are working.
In basic setup I choose subwoofer and 5 speakers. Test goes ok (I choose YES) but after it nevertheless only 2 speakers are indicated.
Please, help. I want 5.1 sound out of my PC through this receiver.
Are you listening to music from the PC or movies? If its not recorded in 5.1, its not going to play in 5.1. Your receiver may have a setting that converts it. I think it was called ProLogic II at one point.
Would not the driver for the sound card support surround sound? I know some soundcards have software that will emulate various forms of surround sound?
Dave you can emulate and use sound processors to push the sound to the various speakers almost haphazardly . The receiver however is smart enough to know that your sounds is coming from a CD and will not automatically put it in the surround mode.
